EtherCat Terminal, 4-channel digital output, 24 VDC, TwinSAFE

The EL2904 EtherCat Terminal is a digital output terminal with 4 channels and it can switch 24 VDC actuators with up to 0.5 A per channel and has 4 fail-safe outputs. The terminals outputs are controlled by a Beckhoff TwinSAFE Logic-capable device via FSoE, automatically switching off when an error is detected.

This versatile EtherCat Terminal has safety parameters that adapt functionality to the respective safety requirements. For example, a current measurement at the outputs and a test of the outputs can be configured to be able to detect cross-circuits and to react appropriately. Additionally, standard outputs can be activated, meaning that corresponding standard outputs are available in the process image in parallel and internally ANDed with the safe outputs.

Safety parameters are not stored directly but are transmitted via a TwinSAFE Logic-capable component when the safety application is started. This simplifies service procedures as the components can simply be replaced. The safety-relevant parameters are transferred to the new terminal when the safety application is restarted.
